Research in Motion says it has signed up over 3 million subscribers for its BlackBerry mobile email platform. The company's pace of growth is accelerating, despite a recent patent challenge from NTP and increased competition from rival mobile email providers. RIM took six months to go from 2 million to 3 million subscribers. It took the company five years to hit the 1 million subscriber mark in February 2004.
