Samsung's Shin: We'll sell 300M handsets in 2011

Samsung is expected to have a strong second quarter, with analysts forecasting 19 million smartphone shipments. According to JK Shin, the president of Samsung's mobile communications business, the company remains on track to ship more than 60 million smartphones this year in total. He said that for the first time Samsung will ship 300 million total handsets this year. In an interview with South Korea's Yonhap News, Shin also said the company expects the global Android tablet ecosystem to expand as more tablets are sold, and that Samsung intends to lead in 4G tablets. Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) will launch an LTE version of Samsung's GalaxyTab 10.1 later this summer. Article
