Sneak Peak: Made-for-mobile show to launch in Oct.

E! Entertainment’s SVP of new media John Najarian took part in a panel session today on producing mobile content and gave the attendees a sneak peak at a few made-for-mobile shows and apps that are in the pipeline. The big announcement from the content provider was the made-for-mobileshow, Planet Gossip, which is set to launch during the first week of October. Sounds like an off-deck offering. The viewing options are interesting and testament to E!’s take on mobile content as “snackable.” Viewers can either watch the 20 minute show in 4 segments, 5 minutes each or watch it in full. It’s also available on broadband the viewing flexibility is savvy. Another app Najarian mentioned was E! Online Gold, which gives users access to the old content in the E! archives and is set to go live on Sprint soon. It comes in two versions: a downloadable app in J2ME and BREW (coming soon) as well as a WAP version. The app features gossip and fashion news. Najarian also indicated that an E! True Hollywood Story mobile app is in the works as is one for the show Wild On and the column Hollywood Party Girl as featured on the E! Online site. Those three sound like they could launch by the end of the year. -Brian
