Sony Ericsson posts 29% higher handset sales

Sony Ericsson's handset sales in the third quarter reached 13.8 million, a 29 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Sales for the quarter increased 22 percent to €2.1 million. The company said it continues to increase spending in marketing and R&D to support its expanding line of handsets. Sony Ericsson attributed the growth to an unexpected surge in the global market as well as its popular K750 camera phone and W800 Walkman handset. The company upgraded its global outlook and now expects to sell 760 million units in 2005.
