Sony Ericsson Q2 profit drops as sales rise

Sony Ericsson said its second quarter earnings declined by 16 percent as the company's sales grew. The company posted net profit of €75 million, down from €89 million in the same quarter last year. Sales grew to €1.61 billion, up from €1.50 billion a year ago. Sony Ericsson said increased spending on research and development ate into the company's profits.
