Sony Ericsson sells half of UIQ to Moto

Sony Ericsson announced plans to sell half of its smartphone software business, UIQ, to rival Motorola. When the handset maker acquired the assets from Symbian last year, it remained a separate business unit under its original management team. Neither Motorola nor Sony Ericsson explained how the business will operate moving forward in the press release. Sony Ericsson used the UIQ platform for its P990 smartphone, M600 messaging phone and W950 Walkman phone.
