The National Transportation Safety Board voted to add a ban on wireless devices for novice drivers to their list of most desired motor safety laws. Although the group has no direct lawmaking powers, it claims extensive lobbying clout. Eleven states and the District of Colombia already have laws restricting cell phone use among novice drivers. Most states are reluctant to restrict cell phone use for all drivers, but see restricting it for novice drivers as a good compromise since they are more prone to causing accidents. Article
