In-flight wireless broadband on US-based airline carriers may come sooner than many people think. In fact, Verizon Airfone says it hopes to be able to offer such a service sometime in 2007. The company's optimism stems from an FCC ruling on 800MHz frequency auctions. The 800MHz band is dedicated to commercial air-to-ground communications. The auction is expected to occur in early 2006.
