SPOTLIGHT: Handset market generated $117B in 2005

The global mobile handset market generated more than $117 billion in revenue during 2005, the highest revenue ever recorded in a single year, according to a new study from Telecom Trends International. The report indicates that revenue increased 14.9 percent in 2005 from 2004. Nokia, Motorola and Samsung were the top three vendors both in terms of revenue and shipments. The three increased their share of revenue to more than 60 percent in 2005. Sony Ericsson was in fourth place in terms of revenue, and LG was in fourth place in terms of shipments. Article
