Many industry insiders think that peer-to-peer VoIP company Skype is too hyped. While the company claims 140 million downloads of its free VoIP application and 45 million users, only 1.7 million actually pay to use any of Skype's premium services. Some VCs have suggested the company is worth as much as $1 billion, despite the fact that estimates peg Skype's revenues between $6 million and $10 million. Skype is a member of the 2005 FierceWireless Fierce 15, an annual list of the top emerging wireless companies. Blog
