Telecom companies attracted more venture capital funding in 2006 than they had in any of the five preceding years: $2.6 billion. Five years ago the sector attracted $2.4 billion in VC. In 2006, the third quarter saw some $914 million of VC invested in telecom companies, the largest since the fourth quarter of 2001. Price Waterhouse said about 44 percent of the telecom sector's growth in all of 2006 is from wireless. Article
