SPOTLIGHT: Why Can't Vodafone Win in Japan?

Several years ago Vodafone acquired Japanese carrier J-Phone in a bid to spread its global brand to Asia. The thinking at the time was that Vodafone would use its Japanese carrier to export leading technologies and strategies from Japan. In practice, Vodafone has tried to make its European strategies work in Japan, a strategy that has failed. If Vodafone is ever going to make Vodafone K.K. a winner, it is going to have to rethink its current strategy. Blog
