Sprint and Avaya announced a joint venture to bring hosted VoIP services to enterprises in North America. Sprint and Avaya will offer an end-to-end solution for both wireline and wireless VoIP. The venture's first offering will be Sprint Hosted Messaging in the fourth quarter, followed in 2006 by hosted IP telephony and wireless integration. No financial details were released.
Sprint's deal with Avaya advances the company's network convergence initiative which began with the conversion of the Sprint voice core to an IP infrastructure and continues with the integration of Nationwide Sprint PCS Network and the Sprint Global IP network.
