Sprint launches combined mobile email client

Sprint Nextel is making email a broader consumer offering by introducing a downloadable email client powered by Seven that enables users to access multiple accounts from disparate email accounts such as America Online and Yahoo. The application is available for free to Sprint Nextel data plan subscribers on select phones. Sprint customers can view each email account they have set up on a separate tab at the top of the screen and reply, delete and forward email. It's getting close to the push email capability that people have come to love about the BlackBerry. While many ISPs and mail portals offer their mail services either through the mobile browser or through clients, most of them have basic functions. Seven's solution looks more like a dedicated email client and stores the header and the first few kilobytes of the message on the phone. To make it like push email, Seven uses SMS as the delivery channel.
