Study: Palm Pre competes with iPhone for 'mindshare'

The summer face-off between the Palm Pre and Apple's iPhone 3GS was heavily hyped, and the two companies have battled recently over the Pre's access to iTunes. While the new iPhone appears to have won the day in sales, at least so far, the Pre is still competing strongly with Apple's iconic device for "mindshare," according to new research from Interpret. The survey suggests that the Pre is second only to the iPhone 3GS in balancing three key factors that figure into shoppers' phone purchases: whether the phone is "smart," "hip/cool" or will increase productivity.
