Syniverse teams with carriers for Canada-wide WiFi

Syniverse Technologies inked a deal with three top Canadian carriers to provide mobile data roaming services for the Canadian WiFi initiative. Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless and TELUS Mobility plan to provide more than 15 million subscribers with nationwide WiFi roaming by launching a national WiFi hotspot network. The network includes the development of 500 new hotspot sites and will operate under a common brand. Syniverse will secure network transport and access between the carriers on their WiFi network. The companies said the contract is multi-year, but did not disclose other details of the deal.
