T-Mobile is breaking ground on a $160 million renovation that aims to transform its headquarters into a modern workplace in Bellevue, Washington. The carrier said the three-year project will prepare the organization for future growth as it inches closer to nationwide 5G and awaits regulatory approval of its merger with Sprint.

T-Mobile says its headquarters is bursting at the seams with more than 6,200 employees, which is up 56% during the past five years. The renovation will introduce many new perks for employees, including an on-site gastropub, outdoor gathering areas, co-working spaces, coffee shops, cafes, dry-cleaning drop-off and a “pedestrian-friendly area reminiscent of the High Line in New York City.”

The company is committed to power its headquarters with 100% renewable energy by 2021 and says its revitalized headquarters will be the first U.S. corporate campus to achieve a Fitwel certification. The wellness standard “promotes a comprehensive approach to a healthier workplace through increased physical activity, accessible design, access to healthy food options, natural lighting and outdoor spaces.” The campus will also feature an “IT genius bar” and a bike repair station for employees that cycle to work.

T-Mobile says it continues to expand in other states and is hopeful that it will also have a future headquarters in Kansas if its merger with Sprint is approved.
