T-Mobile launches two new Sidekicks

T-Mobile USA has announced its newest Sidekick devices: the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick Slider. The LX model will retail at $299 after a two-year contract and boasts a thinner form factor, a large WQVGA screen with HD Sharp Aquos LCD technology and a 128 MB memory card. The handset will come in two colors: midnight blue and espresso brown. The LX will hit shelves on October 24. The Sidekick Slide is a cheaper version: it will retail for $199 with a two-year contract. This model is smaller than previous ones and has a slide-up screen, instead of the swivel screen other Sidekicks sport. The handset will debut on November 7 and come in black with a deep purple finish. What's with all these colors?

Along with the handsets, T-Mobile is also launching Sidekick Nation, a user-generated video contest where Sidekick fans create short films demonstrating how they can't live without their Sidekick. Grand prize is $10,000 and a trip to Hollywood to see the video aired on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show.
