T-Mobile USA reports strong Q1 growth

T-Mobile USA continued to show impressive growth today, reporting strong first-quarter results. The carrier reported OIBDA of $826 million, up $515 million from the fourth quarter of 2004 and $492 million from the first quarter of 2004. T-Mobile USA's net income for the first quarter was $103 million. The carrier's overall revenue for the quarter was $2.85 billion, up from $2.75 billion in the fourth quarter of 2004 and $2.21 billion in the first quarter of 2004. T-Mobile's ARPU was $54, down from $55 in the fourth quarter but on par with the first quarter of last year. T-Mobile's churn dropped from 2.6 percent at the end of last year to 2.3 percent. The carrier added a total of 957,000 new subscribers in the first quarter this year.
