Touring a Sprint Network Vision cell site

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) is in the midst of its multibillion-dollar Network Vision network modernization plan, which promises to consolidate and transform the carrier's networks. The project is centered around multi-mode base stations that will allow Sprint to light up LTE service, shut down its legacy iDEN network and improve CDMA coverage and capacity. Last week, as part of a briefing for reporters at its headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., Sprint allowed reporters to tour one of its Network Vision cell sites.
