Despite years of hype, WiMax has yet to move into the commercial marketplace. While critics of the technology have been ready to write it off for some time, supporters claim that recent trials with pre-certification deployments prove that WiMax can and will live up to its potential. AT&T is moving into its third WiMax trial, while other carriers continue to experiment with the technology.
