Vodafone continues to expand as it seeks acquisitions in Asia, Poland, and France, while keeping an eye on its struggling business in Japan. The company is looking to increase its 20 percent stake in Poland's Polkemtel and its 44 percent stake in France's SFR. Vodafone claimed subscribers to its 3G service rose to 4.35 million in August, up 1 million from July. The company wants to attract 10 million subscribers to its 3G services by next April, and hopes to lure some by offering 15 new types of 3G handsets for the holiday season.
