U.S. Cellular to let select customers 'test drive' network before signing contracts

U.S. Cellular (NYSE:USM) launched a new trial initiative to let select customers test out its network before agreeing to sign up for service. Customers in select cities, including Knoxville, Tenn. Medford, Ore., and Rocky Mount, N.C., will be able to take part in the trial. Customers can test the Tier 2 carrier's devices and service for one week before signing a service agreement. U.S. Cellular has struggled to add new subscribers on a consistent basis, and as a result has pioneered several unique initiatives to highlight its customer service. "You deserve to know what to expect from a wireless network before you sign on the dotted line," the company noted on a website for the trial. "That's why, for a limited time, you're invited to test-drive the U.S. Cellular network for a whole week without signing up for service." Page
