3G Americas is touting the latest figures from Informa about the growth of UMTS/HSDPA subscribers. According to the report, there are 117 million UMTS/HSDPA subscribers and the technology is now deployed by 167 operators in 69 countries. Of those 167 operators, 115 offer the enhanced HSDPA service.
3G Americas President Chris Pearson says that in the U.S. UMTS/HSDPA is steadily growing and will continue to gain momentum when T-Mobile USA launches its UMTS network this year.
