US Cellular launches push-to-talk

US Cellular today said it launched push-to-talk (P2T) service through its CDMA2000 1xrtt network. The new service, called SpeedTalk, is available in the carrier's 25-state coverage area. Unlimited use of SpeedTalk is available on calling plans beginning at $50 per month -- current subscribers can switch to a SpeedTalk plan without signing new contracts. Select business clients can add unlimited SpeedTalk to their existing plans for $10 per line. US Cellular's first P2T phones include the Kyocera KX440 and LG UX4750. The Kyocera KX440 is available for $220 before rebates, while the LG model sells for $350 before rebates.
