VC: 41 wireless companies raised $455M in Q3

In a VC report released by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Thompson Venture Economics and the National Venture Capital Association, 41 wireless companies received $455 million in investments during the third quarter. The report said that the figure is the largest sum raised by private companies with wireless-related products in the last four years. During the first three quarters of 2005, 114 wireless companies have raised $984 million through VC investments. In 2004, 135 wireless enterprises secured $1.1 billion. Network builder FiberTower led the way, raising $150 million, followed by wireless-messaging application and service provider Visto, which secured $70 million.
