Verizon adds Palm Centro to portfolio

Palm's popular Centro device will soon be available to Verizon Wireless customers for $100 after rebate and with a two-year contract.  The smartphone, which is already offered by Sprint and AT&T, will be sold by Verizon starting June 13. The featured color will be cobalt blue.

Palm Centro sports a touchscreen display, 64MB available memory and has a 1.3 megapixel camera. Subscribers can get their email delivered to the device if they sign up for Verizon's $29.99 unlimited data plan.

The addition of Verizon is a plus for Palm. Avian Securities analysts say that the Centro has done very well at Sprint but its popularity with AT&T subscribers isn't as impressive. Palm is hopeful that its new slimmer Treo smartphone, which will make its debut later this summer, will be popular with consumers.
