Verizon voice-messaging subscribers in New York City and New England can now add wireless alerts to their accounts. The feature sends a text message to any Verizon Wireless short text messaging-capable phone with an alert that a new voice message has been left on the customer's landline phone. The service is available immediately to both business and residential customers. There is no charge for receipt of the SMS alert where the service is available.
