After an initial report over at VentureBeat set off a number of reports that Virgin Mobile USA might layoff as many as 300 of its 450 employees, the MVNO has denied that it is mulling massive layoffs. According to Virgin Mobile's VP of Corporate Communications Jayne Wallace, however, the MVNO is considering the possibility of "reshaping or outsourcing" its IT division. That said, Virgin Mobile has "made no final determinations" regarding the issue so it's still premature to speculate on details, according to Wallace.

CrunchGear has posted what looks to be an internal memo from Virgin Mobile USA CEO Dan Schulman that estimates 30 IT employees might be moved to IBM's offices but will continue working on the MVNO's systems.
