Vodafone D2 is close to overtaking German market leader T-Mobile. Vodafone D2 now claims 27.2 million subscribers, placing it only slightly behind T-Mobile, which claimed 27.6 million subscribers at the end of March. Researcher Gartner expects Vodafone D2 to overtake T-Mobile in Germany by the end of the year. In a related announcement, O2 is closing in on Germany's third-largest carrier, E-Plus. T-Mobile's subscriber growth has slowed in recent months as the carrier shifts its focus to attracting and retaining more profitable subscribers.
