Wi-Fi Alliance, CTIA team on certification

The Wi-Fi Alliance and CTIA announced a partnership agreement to develop and promote certification programs for converged WiFi mobile handsets. The groups plan to jointly develop test programs for overlapping parts of converged WiFi/mobile handsets with an initial focus on radio frequency performance mapping in a mixed network environment. Future work will explore other technology challenges of convergence, such as handover between cellular and WiFi networks, cross-radio signal sensitivity and battery life.
