Will inter-app communication open up a new mobile security threat?

Is there a new mobile security threat on the horizon? There might be, according to security firms Kinvey and Kaspersky. Apple last year announced Extensibility, which debuted in iOS 8. Using the technology, apps can tie into aspects of iOS such as Notification Center and the keyboard. In other words, it means users can conceivably access functions in one app through another. While Android has long offered inter-app communication, Apple's change in direction and the increased corporate focus on developing cross-platform enterprise apps has some experts concerned that data might be compromised, stolen or tampered with at some point when apps communicate.
