Will Philadelphia become a 4G battleground?

It looks like the city of brotherly love is set to become one of the nation's premier 4G battlegrounds next year as Clearwire and Verizon Wireless each prep their respective 4G plays in the city. Though Clearwire has not officially announced that it is bringing its Clear-branded mobile WiMAX service to Philadelphia, the carrier is in the process of "soft launching" the market. And it's a safe bet that where Clearwire goes, so too will its resellers Sprint Nextel and Comcast. Meantime, Verizon Wireless could have LTE service up and running in parts of the Philadelphia metro area in 2010, carrier executives told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Thus, the stage is set for a throw-down between LTE and mobile WiMAX next year in the city of Philly. Article
