BellSouth and Yahoo! have teamed up to launch a co-branded broadband service called FastAccess DSL that will bundle Yahoo's free services, like email and digital photo services, with BellSouth's broadband access. The companies plan to launch the service in BellSouth's nine-state region by the end of next year. Yahoo!'s existing contracts with SBC and Verizon, coupled with the BellSouth deal, enables the company to offer its services to more than 75 percent of US high-speed households. Yahoo! will receive a slice of revenue for every new BellSouth DSL customer. BellSouth is looking to diversify its offerings to attract new customers as competition with cable operators intensifies.
