Yahoo launches test social networking site for mobiles

The social networking trend continues to heat up as Yahoo quietly launched a test site called Mixd that allows phone users to send text messages and share videos and pictures among friends. Yahoo will market the service to some college campuses across the nation as a way to help Gen Yers organize a party or meet at other social activities, but also as a way for Yahoo to glean information on user habits. Yahoo believes groups will begin to coalesce around particular events. Each group gets its own website where all of the pictures, videos and messages that are sent through the phones will be posted for later viewing. Because college students like to remember the best keggers they've ever had.
