Report: Android now leads UK smartphone OS market

New research data from consultancy Kantar Worldpanel ComTech indicates that Android has grown its share of the smartphone market in the UK to over 37 per cent, up from 8.3 per cent a year ago. Google's mobile platform surpassed Apple's iOS to claim the top spot, thefirm said. The research firm also maintains that the majority of new Android and iOS users are migrating to these platforms from a non-smartphone background. Kantar notes that in the UK, for example, nearly 75 per cent of iOS and 73.8 per cent of Android's new customers previously owned a non-smartphone device before switching. Article
