Here’s what you need to know about each:

  • Blue Planet (a division of Ciena), 5G End-to-End Network Slicing Automation Solution:
Blue Planet’s 5G slicing automation system is being used as part of proof-of-concept trials in Deutsche Telekom’s (DT) labs. DT plans to launch 5G network slicing in 2024.

  • Huawei, Huawei Full-Series 5.5G Solutions
Huawei has said it will launch a full range of 5.5G (5G-Advanced) equipment in 2024. The South China Morning Post reported that all the major Chinese mobile network operators have already signed on to use the kit.

  • Intel, 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor with Intel vRAN Boost
Intel has noted that more than half of core network workloads are virtualized, a fact that is, in part, down to previous generations of Xeon processor. Samsung is starting to integrate its vRAN 3.0 software with the latest generation of Intel processor as operators start to transform their radio access networks (RAN) to better align with modern cloud architectures.

  • Marvell, Marvell OCTEON 10 Fusion:
Marvell’s latest inline 5G accelerators already power a 5G mMIMO radio reference design built by Analog Devices and Marvell. The company is also collaborating with Dell, Fujitsu, Nokia and Samsung to roll this silicon out. It said market adoption is already underway.

  • Samsung Networks, vRAN 3.0
Samsung’s vRAN software has already been adopted by many operators around the world. For instance, Verizon has been using Samsung’s vRAN for its cloud-native 5G deployments. Samsung’s latest vRAN software has a sleep mode to save energy during off-peak times for the network
