AppFlood: Mobile ad traffic grows 99.4% quarter-over-quarter

Mobile ad traffic is growing a whopping 99.4 percent on a quarter-by-quarter basis, according to recent research from AppFlood. The firm's Global Mobile Android Advertising Insights report focused primarily on the third quarter of this year.

Here are some more data points from the report:

·        The cost of acquiring single users slid to just $0.26.

·        Personalization apps earned the most revenue, raking in 2.3 times more than Communication apps, which earned the second most.

·        67 percent of mobile users acquired from around the world are from Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

·        Globally, average mobile ad budgets have been growing by 24 percent month over month since July 2013.

"It's not a bad time to be a mobile advertiser as the appetite for apps grows around the world amid a growing supply of traffic outpacing demand," the report says. "Install rates grew across the board in developing regions, suggesting positive sentiment for mobile app discovery through ads."

There's no question these are encouraging numbers, though developers will probably notice that the biggest spikes are happening far from the U.S. market.

For those seeking to break into the Chinese market in particular, this may be the time to allocate a marketing budget accordingly. But some categories, such as media and video apps, may not see the same uplift as "personalization" apps, a niche that isn't necessarily understood consistently by the industry as a whole.
