Innaworks unveils Java development tool for iPhone

Mobile application development tools provider Innaworks announced the beta launch of its alcheMo for iPhone program, designed for simultaneous Java ME and iPhone development. According to Innaworks, the fully-automated alcheMo for iPhone enables mobile developers to instantly port standard Java ME games to iPhone and iPod touch devices sans further manual adjustments, incorporating a patent-pending optimizing translator that converts Java ME application source code to equivalent application source code for iPhone. Innaworks adds that alcheMo for iPhone employs an expansive subset of Java ME CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0, including touch screen support, and enables several JSR extension APIs including the JSR-256 mobile sensor API as well as advanced language features including Java-style exception handling, multithreading, synchronization, interfaces and inner classes. The alcheMo runtime library also incorporates a garbage collector for automatic memory management. Innaworks encourages qualifying game publishers and developers to join the beta program by contacting the firm via email.
