Palm webOS update: Games coming, everything else a mystery

While Palm is remaining tight-lipped about the status of its fledgling webOS and accompanying Pre smartphone, the device maker tells Engadget that mobile games are in development for the platform, refuting talk that web-style app development will limit the operating system's gaming options. Palm adds it is presently working with a small number of selected developers on the webOS private beta and refining the SDK according to their feedback and requests, although Engadget notes it does not expect the SDK will officially launch until just before or even after the Pre hits stores.

Palm suggests it will not extend deep developer access to webOS from the get-go, but will open up its APIs at some point in the future. Engadget also asked Palm about the potential for a soft keyboard, to which Palm responded that there's no reason developers couldn't build their own.
