Sun agreed to acquire the remaining assets from SavaJe Technologies, which spun off of Lucent in 1999. SavaJe's Jasper S20 handset was the "device of the show" at JavaOne 2006, but despite a huge amount of interest from developers the company soon fell into financial turmoil. The circumstances of SavaJe's problems were never made public, but I'm glad to see Sun believes enough in the technology to buy the remaining IP.
