Twilio launches VoIP SDK for Apple's iOS

Cloud communications provider Twilio is rolling out its Client for iOS, a new SDK enabling developers to integrate voice over IP capabilities into new and existing apps optimized for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) mobile devices.

Twilio Client for iOS supports voice calls through any device with a data connection, including the iPad and iPod touch--marketers can now include tap-to-call capabilities within mobile advertisements to instantly connect leads within an app, alongside other possibilities for both consumer and enterprise services. Twilio Client for iOS also touts built-in presence features allowing users to detect when contacts are available for voice chat. For more information, click here. http://www.twilio.com/api/client

Twilio's web-based tools enable developers and content providers to integrate phone calls, text messages and IP voice communications into web, mobile and traditional phone applications; the firm requires no contracts and charges no upfront fees--users instead pay solely for the solutions they implement when they use them. Late last year, Twilio closed a $17 million Series C round, bringing its total venture funding to $33.7 million.
