ABI Research: Activity tracker market to top 87m by 2021

ABI Research said activity tracker shipments increased by almost 80 per cent in 2015 compared to 2014 as new players entered the market and sales outside the U.S. took off. The research company expects total shipments of activity trackers to top 87 million in 2021 as these devices, from players including Fitbit, Xiaomi, Jawbone, Misfit (Fossil), and many others, will continue to lead consumers into the emerging wearable wireless connected health and wellbeing market. Activity trackers currently dominate the mobile health wearable space but, over the next five years, new types of mobile health wearables will expand the range of tracking alternatives available to consumers.
