Alca-Lu delivers LAN to Turkey's Ministry of Education

Alcatel-Lucent will supply the Ministry of Education in Turkey with a new Local Area Network solution, based on its OmniSwitch products, through its local business partner MERIT.

MERIT will also provide installation support and ongoing service support for the network, which will offer services to in excess of 7,500 users in the Ministry's main building and in more than 10 branch offices in the country.

The system, based on the 802.1X protocol which provides an authentication mechanism to devices wishing to attach to a LAN port, supports real-time applications like voice and video with enhanced multicast support. In addition the system also offers native hardware based support for IPV6.
