Alcatel-Lucent ranked top DSL and GPON vendor

Alcatel-Lucent announced that analyst companies Dell'Oro and Infonetics Research have listed it as the market leader in digital subscriber line and Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) technologies respectively.

The company said Dell'Oro's fourth quarter access report confirms its overall market leadership in DSL, with a 39% market share in port shipments.

According to Dell'Oro, Alcatel-Lucent led the fourth quarter in overall DSL numbers and in terms of IP digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) with 36% market share and very high-speed DSL (VDSL) port shipments with 47%.

Alcatel-Lucent maintained its position with 8.3 million DSL lines shipped in the quarter, up 4% quarter on quarter, and 8% year on year. In total, the company has already shipped more than 158 million DSL lines worldwide.

Infonetics Research ranked Alcatel-Lucent as the industry's leading GPON vendor: in the fourth quarter of 2007 it accounted for 42% of ports shipped, almost triple the market share of its nearest competitor.
