Apple tablet will run iPhone OS

Apple’s tablet PC will run the iPhone operating system to allow content to be transferred between the two devices, the boss of a major US publisher says.

Terry McGraw, president and CEO of McGraw-Hill, told reporters at CNBC his firm has worked closely with Apple to help develop the tablet as part of an eBooks strategy that now sees 95% of the publisher’s content available electronically

“The tablet is going to be terrific,” McGraw said, noting that it would most likely be used by professionals and those in higher education.

Apple is due to release full details of the device later today.
