Belgacom has selected ADTRAN to supply Ethernet access lines on copper to its new professional service platform, Explore. This will enable Belgacom to extend its business-class services availability to locations not covered by its own fibre network or where its xDSL portfolio cannot provide sufficient bandwidth to handle symmetric traffic loads.
'ADTRAN's recent investment in the European market and its leadership in business DSL services made it a perfect choice for this project,' said Van De Velde Hendrik, currently responsible for Product and Solution Management of the Enterprise Business Unit of Belgacom. He added, 'Its Total Access and NetVanta product families will allow us to scale Ethernet symmetric services up to 8Mbps which immediately addresses today's business Ethernet services market, while minimising our capital and operational investment.'
