Deutsche Telekom to offer broadband by satellite

SES Astra signed a framework contract for the marketing of its satellite based, two-way broadband service, Astra2Connect, in Germany with Deutsche Telekom.

In cooperation with the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Deutsche Telekom is already offering the service as a pilot project in two German communities without terrestrial broadband access, a Satellite Today report said.

SES Astra now has four distribution partners in Germany, and since the launch of Astra2Connect in April 2007, SES Astra also has signed distribution contracts in Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Italy and Poland.
