Ericsson wins EDGE contract from Malaysian carrier

Ericsson has secured a contract from Malaysian operator Celcom to expand, modernize and upgrade the carrier's GSM network to a new architecture.

In a statement, Ericsson said the project would be implemented over 12 months, starting in early July.

It covers the northern, eastern and central regions of the Malaysian peninsula.

Ericsson would provide a portfolio of telecom equipment and services, including deployment and integration of radio access network equipment, as well as switching capacity and software upgrades.
