French President's account hacked, cash stolen

Hackers broke into President Nicolas Sarkozy's personal bank account and siphoned off small amounts of cash, having got hold of his online access codes.

The Guardian reported Luc Chatel, secretary of state for consumer affairs, told French radio that internet banking had seen a 9% rise in offences this year in France.
